Why you won't find a hotel room in Columbus, Ga., on Expedia, Travelocity or Orbitz
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There is a very important issue that has been simmering for years but will soon be coming to a head. The issue regards the amount of room tax paid by online travel companies (OTCs) versus the amount paid by hotels. The OTCs are attempting to push a piece of legislation through Congress that would shift the tax burden to hotels. This issue was hotly debated at the recent AHLA Legislative Summit.
We are working to resolve this issue now. We currently have the National Governors Association and the National Association of Counties on our side. All of them are united against this measure along with us. If you have any questions regarding this issue, please call Montine at 501-376-2323.
